April 26, 2024 - Ski and Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) is one of the premier junior ski clubs in the country. SSCV’s Cross Country Program is in the Rocky Mountain Division and competes at regional and national level annually. The surrounding valley and communities provide a fantastic environment for training, outdoor recreation, and excellent alpine skiing nearby. Additionally, SSCV operates the cross country ski trails at Maloit Park on behalf of the Eagle County School District, which provides a high-quality training and racing venue for SSCV program members.
Ski and Snowboard Club Vail is accepting applications for a coach to work with the Cross Country Competition and Development Programs. The primary coaching responsibility will be for the U16/U18/U20 Comp/Devo programs.
Position: Cross Country Competition and Development Team Coach
Employer: Ski and Snowboard Club Vail
Reports to: Comp/Devo Program Head Coach and Cross Country Program Director Employment: 10-month full-time seasonal
Compensation: $25,000-$30,000, DOE

Responsibilities include:
• Foster a positive, supportive and inclusive team culture
• Assist in the development and implementation of training plans
• Preparing for and coaching daily training sessions
• Coaching support at identified competition trips and training camps
• Assist with content for newsletters, club awards, fundraisers, etc.
• Work with Head Coach and Program Director to coordinate team travel and trip budgets
• Assist with the maintenance of club owned and skier equipment
• Van driving for daily training, competitions and camps as needed. Experience driving a trailer is a plus.
• Engage with the local cross country skiing community at events including town series races and other events.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, technical knowledge and understanding of the sport, and the ability to work alongside the Nordic Program Director and Comp/Devo Head coach to provide high-quality programming for all members. Hours will vary seasonally, with more hours from November to March and reduced hours in spring, summer, and fall.
Opportunity for interested candidates to have extra work snowmobile and cat grooming at an hourly rate. Training on equipment use available.
