Norway’s Klaebo Wins Historic 50K Mass Start CL Olympic Gold – Canada’s Cyr 11th and USA’s Schumacher 13th

February 22, 2026 - Norway’s Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo, won a historic sixth gold medal in the men’s 50k mass start classic going undefeated at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milano Cortina making him the first winter athlete to win six gold medals at one Olympics. His victory brings his career gold medal count to 11 and total Olympic medal count to 13.

Canada’s Antoine Cyr was just out of the top 10, leading the North American charge with a strong performance and a personal-best 11th-place finish in the men’s 50k mass start classic at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

The USA’s Gus Schumacher led Team USA in 13th followed by Canada’s Tom Stephen, making the top-20 as well, finishing 17th.

Klaebo led from the start with fellow Norwegias, Martin Loewstroem Nyenget and Emil Iversen, who joined together and never looked back. The trio swept the podium with Nyenget taking the silver and Iversen the bronze.
