February 25, 2026 - The Lake Tahoe Region features over 305 km of top-notch, groomed cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails, including abundant snowfall and over 300 days of sunshine each year, along with world-class resorts and amenities, plus the emerald-blue waters of Lake Tahoe.

The renowned and award-winning Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center (TDXC) offers over 100 kilometres of world-class touring terrain for xc skiers and snowshoers of all levels, from beginner and intermediate trails to exciting double black diamonds.

As the only Nordic skiing facility in the region with dedicated snowmaking capabilities, TDXC ensures early-season skiing and the best possible conditions all season long.

From expert technicians who will fine-tune your skis, to private, semi-private and group lessons, enjoy the inviting Alder Creek Cafe + Trailside Bar for delicious grab-and-go treats and healthy dining options.

TDXC has been voted “Best Ski Resort” year after year by Sierra Sun Readers and was ranked in the top 3 in USA Today’s “10Best” Reader’s Choice Best Cross Country Ski Resorts in 2024.

Legendary Royal Gorge offers 137 trails, an unbelievable 159 kilometres of excellent skiable terrain, and six trailside warming huts.

There are eight distinct trail systems for classic and skate skiing that offer a variety of terrain for skiers of all ages and ability levels along with the finest views of the Northern Sierra.

Lessons are available from professional instructors for skiers of all skill levels along with quality rental equipment, including snowshoes, skate skis and classic skis. Refuel at the Gold Rush Cafe and Bar for grab-and-go or eat-in lunch options daily.

Stay nearby at the charming Hotel at Sugar Bowl or one of the many comfortable vacation rentals on Donner Summit, with many more lodging and dining options only minutes away in the Town of Truckee.

Tahoe XC features 50 kilometres of superbly groomed skate and classic trails along with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe. Only miles from downtown Tahoe City, the trail network also features snowshoe-specific trails and three warming huts.
