December 28, 2020 - The sport of cross country skiing is booming this winter when getting outdoors, exercising and social distancing has never seemed so desirable reports Forbes. In many places in the U.S. and Canada, it’s already hard to find new equipment or even good used gear.
“There’s a new degree of general interest nationally in the outdoors for exercise, escape, serenity, and socializing at a discreet distance that’s carrying over to winter,” says Jonathan Wiesel, a veteran of the industry and the co-founder of Nordic Group International.
According to Wiesel even alpine skiers are turning to cross-country as they don’t want to wait two hours for a gondola ride up the mountain, so they’re going cross country skiing instead. Once you leave the parking lot, trail dispersion and width helps you socially distance naturally.
