August 13, 2025 - (Prince George, BC) Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is thrilled to announce it has been selected to host the Nordiq Canada 2026 Olympic Winter Games Trials, taking place December 10–16, 2025. The Trials will determine the athletes who will represent Canada in cross-country skiing at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina.

This marks a historic milestone as the first Olympic Trials ever hosted in Prince George and is a proud moment for both the club and the community. Known for its outstanding facilities and passionate volunteer base, Caledonia has solidified its status as a hub for high-performance Nordic sport in Canada, having previously hosted the 2015 Canada Winter Games, the 2019 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships, and the 2024 Para Biathlon World Championships and World Cup Finals.
“Prince George is a model for what community-driven sport development can achieve,” said Beckie Scott, Olympic Champion and CEO of Nordiq Canada. “Caledonia Nordic Ski Club has repeatedly demonstrated their ability to deliver world-class competitions, and we are proud to bring this pivotal moment in our Olympic pathway to such a dedicated and enthusiastic host.”
Significant support from partners including the Government of British Columbia, the City of Prince George, Tourism Prince George, and Northern Development Initiative Trust has helped transform Caledonia into a world-class Nordic venue. Investments in snowmaking infrastructure and the development of Canada’s first paved roller ski and roller biathlon trails have been instrumental in positioning the club for high-performance training year-round particularly by extending training opportunities beyond the winter season.
“For our club and for Prince George, this is more than just an event. Caledonia Nordic is already recognized on the international stage, but hosting the Olympic Trials takes us to an Olympic level and gives us the opportunity to showcase Northern BC to the world. That is extremely exciting,” said Kevin Pettersen, Event Chair. “None of this would be possible without the volunteers who power every competition we host. We will be putting out the call soon, and we hope the entire community will get behind this incredible moment.”
Further details on race schedules, volunteer opportunities, and event plans will be shared later this summer.
