January 28, 2026 - (Anchorage, Alaska) Make a costume, make a memory, make an impact: Alaska Ski for Women is celebrating 30 years this weekend with events on Saturday, January 31st and Sunday, February 1st. The Alaska Ski for Women is North America’s largest women’s cross-country ski event, with over 500 skiers coming together to ski the trails of Kincaid Park.

Starting off the weekend is the Friends and Family Ski on Saturday, January 31, where we welcome anyone to register, pin on an event bib, and ski the 4k course independently. The course will be adorned with colorful decorations, a photo booth, sponsor banners, and pink flamingos! After a challenging 2025 ski season with minimal snow, this week is bringing us the perfect conditions with record-breaking January snowfall and balmy temps in the upper 20s over the weekend.

The main event is on Sunday, February 1st. Freestyle and classic timed races are followed by a costume contest and an untimed party wave. The party wave is an opportunity for participants to showcase their creative costumes and ski the course with friends. Throughout Sunday, the Kincaid Chalet will buzz with food, hot drinks, free massages, a Flamingo Mixer, and more! The online charity auction will be on display with virtual bidding running from 12:00 pm on January 29th through 3:00 pm on February 1st. You do not need to be an event participant to bid in the auction.

The Alaska Ski for Women is a fun-focused event that makes a meaningful difference in the community by creating a welcoming environment for women of all skiing abilities to get out on the trails, and by granting event proceeds to Alaska nonprofits working to end the cycle of domestic violence. Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis (AWAIC) and Standing Together Against Rape (STAR) Alaska were our 2025 grantees. Both organizations will have representatives at the Kincaid Chalet during Sunday’s event. A portion of event proceeds also benefit the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage, who maintain and groom 160 km of trails used by thousands each year.
