January 20, 2025 - Fernie, B.C. is a classic ski town that boasts an average annual snowfall of over 9m (30 feet) and features four distinct areas that offer 42km/26mi of fantastic cross-country ski trails.

Check out Fernie Alpine Resort XC with 14km/8mi of groomed and track-set trails for all levels of classic and skate skiers. Elk Valley Nordic Centre offers 10km/6mi of groomed trails and a cozy warming hut. Montane, just minutes from downtown Fernie, is popular for its scenic 10km/6mi of trails, while Fernie Golf Club features 12km/7.5mi of groomed trails that are also great for Nordic skiing novices.

Enjoy the 5km Scandia Loop, on the resort’s multi-use trail system or try the 3km Double Creek Loop open only for snowshoers. If fat biking’s your game the Hobbit’s Trail multi-use routes have you covered.

XC ski rentals and lessons are available at Fernie Alpine Resort on the daily groomed Silk and Manchuria multi-use trail system. Fernie Nordic Society also offers lessons while equipment rentals are also available in town from GearHub Sports.
