Sports and Life, An Olympian’s View Released by John Morton his Fourth Book

release by Morton Trails

April 24, 2024 - John Morton is excited to announce the publication of his fourth book, Sports and Life, An Olympian’s View, a collection of more than 130 short essays, stories and commentaries, previously broadcast on Vermont Public Radio, over a span of two decades.

The first third of the book focuses on Morton’s wide-ranging experiences, from self-deprecating memories of high school football and tennis, the joy and pain of running marathons, to the comradeship of paddling remote rivers with old buddies.

The second section contains stories dealing with family: hiking The Long Trail with his daughter, biking down a volcano in Hawaii and dealing with family illness and injury. The final segment contains commentaries on issues related to sports: Lance Armstrong, summer Olympics and America’s addiction to firearms.

Internationally recognized environmentalist, Bill McKibben says, “…for anyone who really loves sport, this book will charm, enlighten, amuse and motivate you!”
