April 9, 2025 - The 50th Great Labrador Loppet took place on March 29th, it was a beautiful sunny day with -10’ C temperature and no wind. A total of 87 skiers came out to enjoy the day Nfld., Labrador West, HV/GB, BC, NB and Quebec.

The course was excellent for skate and classic with good track all the way thanks to our Alf Parsons and Keith Oldford of Whitewolf. The safety of the course was ensured by Alf & Keith who went above and beyond and worked for days preceding the loppet to get snow cover on wet spots and on the morning of the loppet Alf had four volunteers with scoops fixing the trouble spots. Wanda Dixon of NB stated, “Best Loppet and Course ever”.
The start of the 10K had the tent compliments of Town of Wabush staffed by Paster Meade and his friend doing the hydration for the 20K. Follet’s Hollow 5K rest stop and feed station staffed by Tony Lawrence and his group went very well.
We were supported by The HOWLS of Western Labrador and Labrador West Ground Search Group along the trail to start and ensure the safety of the event – great Job.
The town of Labrador City ensured that the barricades were in place and snow on the road crossing at Circular Road and removed after. Big thanks to Marcie Brown for her assistance with trucking skis to Duley Park, her video of the loppet start and ensuring the snow was removed from the road after.
Big thanks to PENCAL Busing for the busses to Duley start.
The RNC did a great job of getting the word out and patrolling the barricades.
We are very thankful to the scout’s group for looking after the Circular Road Crossing, wonderful job.
